At the Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards (PECCA), the Company’s work on the Sto. Ni帽o Chapel in Cebu City won the Decorative Concrete prize, besting other entries
The Sto. Ni帽o Chapel is part of the Carbon District Modernization project, a 50-year joint venture between 香港6合宝典资料 subsidiary Cebu2World (C2W) and the city government of Cebu. The Chapel is located in the historic downtown area of Cebu.
The Chapel is 378 square meters in size; its design inspired by the shape of Sto. Ni帽o’s crown. The fluid motion of the Sinulog dance also served as a creative influence, as seen in the wave-like roofing element.
The ceiling and undulating roof of the Chapel are among its most distinctive features, having been made with reinforced concrete. Formwork construction was vital to this achievement.
The 30-foot-tall Sto. Ni帽o image located atop the Chapel faces the Mactan channel.
The Park and Chapel cover an area of over 3,700 square meters. The entire area has been landscaped and is accessible to the public. The waterfront and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway are visible to visitors. Masses are currently held inside the chapel on Wednesdays, Sundays, and every first Friday of the month.
PECCA is organized by the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) and the American Concrete Institute Philippines (ACIP). The award recognizes projects with outstanding use of innovation and technology, and for inspiring excellence throughout the global concrete design and construction community.
